As a young woman sings into the front-facing camera, blurry background and overlays hide the rest of the band, artfully obscured by the numbers 20/20. Hijac’s music video mixes zoom calls, techno-grime aesthetics, and horribly familiar defective software. Bright, poppy, and incorporating all the parts of technology that made last year both bearable and unbearable, 2020 Vision is a big middle finger to last year, while also celebrating the ways we were able to creatively push through.
Directed by graphic designer/animator/music producer Hijac, the piece makes use of filters, 360 views, and other technologies that became ubiquitous with cellular survival last year. The track features FIA and creative artist s.g.cackle.
