San Francisco design agency ASTRO Studios recently promoted Norio Fujikawa to Executive Creative Director, following 14 years spent as a Creative Director for the studio which dreamed up and designed 21st-century tech  like the Bose Frames and Bose Sleepbuds, and a series of tech for Shinola.

“With his capacity for innovation and creative drive, Norio has been a longstanding influential leader at ASTRO,” said Brett Lovelady, Founder and Chief Instigator. Norio is an accomplished visual artist, and has appeared in multiple galleries as well as publications and products.

“The new role makes what I’ve already been trying to do as Creative Director at Astro for a while now, ‘official,’” Fujikawa. “I’ve consistently tried to contribute and lead in any way I can with each of the teams across the studio, not just in the product design realm.”

Fujikawa’s promotion is just one future-thinking piece as ASTRO continues its journey toward “designing for a new reality,” with corresponding visions related to the future of AI and AR. But he believes that everything must be rooted in humanity: “Design is still about delivering quality human experiences, no matter what the ‘product’ is.”

Previously, Norio served as a Senior Designer at Fitch and also freelanced.
