Boy Howdy, Boy Genius!

Boy howdy!  No, actually, Boy Genius.  It is a phrase that seems to conjure up images of a superhero whose goal in life is to save people in distress and to solve problems with the use of his superior brain.  Well, almost.  Try rather a problem-solving-kind-of-director who not only understands getting your message across, but who also understands how you came to conceive that message (well, boy howdy, now we’re talking!).  Meet Boy Genius director, Ed Schumacher.

Having been in the commercial realm for a number of years now, Schumacher has continued to make his mark (unfortunately sans cape), on the advertising world.  Initially honing his writing and producing skills at such agencies as Earle Palmer Brown, Rubin Postaer, Davidandgoliath, Merkley, Newman Harty, and DDB Worldwide, he eventually moved into directing and has amassed a reel sporting notable work for Target, PlayStation Portable, Energizer, H&R Block, Mercury Insurance, and Ben & Jerry’s.  Adding to the evolving face of advertising, Schumacher has also taken on viral projects for Bacardi and Pocket, in turn rounding out an impressive body of work

It is safe to say that we could go on and on about Schumacher’s awards for directing and art directing, but it might be more interesting to see what the boy genius has to say for himself.  Recently we asked the director to face the camera and enlighten us on all things 'Schumacher.'  The Reel Moment video to your right is how he weighed in.
