Brazil’s BossaNova Launches Interactive Unit
Sao Paulo production company recruits digital talent from Gringo Advertising to create interactive content.
BossaNova Films Goes Digital with New Interactive Division Sao Paulo-based production company BossaNova Films has announced the launch of a new section of the company dedicated to the production of interactive projects. According to BossaNova executives, the new division will work in full integration with the other fields of operation of the production company, which include advertising, cinema, TV, web content and branded content. The new Interactive unit is comprised of four professionals with expertise that complements each other’s backgrounds. Joining BossaNova are Alexandre Souza; Gabriel Laet; Guilherme “Guindex” Almeida and Paulo Perez. The new area arises to produce interactive projects including hotsites, advergames and applications, among other products. “We want to become even closer partners to our customers and provide them with options that go beyond the audiovisual contents we already offer,” comments Eduardo Tibirica, partner and manager of the interactive area. “This will allow them the option of concentrating an entire production of projects via a single supplier,” he adds. According to Irma “Jimmy” Palma, BossaNova partner and manager and Executive Producer of the interactive area, the initiative was born from the willingness and desire of the production company to participate differently in projects for the new media. “As our customers are more and more attentive to eliminating the barrier between offline and online, we have to follow this evolution, as the digital reality is unavoidable,” she says. “Our proposal is to offer technological and artistic intelligence for the production of the most varied communication projects.” “Combining our know-how to BossaNovaFilms expertise in audiovisual productions is the ideal match in the search for excellence in the development of interactive projects,” adds Perez, Interactive Director of the new department. Souza has spent the past three years at Gringo, the Brazilian digital hot shop, as art director and more recently as creative director. Throughout such a period he has developed projects for large brands such as Coca-Cola, Coke Zero, Itaú and Ray-Ban, among others. In the interactive team, he is in charge of maintaining the visual identity of projects. Laet is senior programmer and started his career at JWT. He worked in L.A. before joining Gringo, where he’s been for the past two years before joining BossaNova, where he’s in charge of programming, actively engaged in the development of projects. Almeida is an animator and programmer. While at Gringo he developed interactive projects for such brands as Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Itaú and Absolut Vodka. In the team, he is in charge of the interactive visual effects, in addition to the integration between design and programming. Perez has always worked with interactive media. Prior to joining Gringo he was with Grupo W. BossaNova was named “Production Company of the Year” last year in Caboré, the most renowned award of the Brazilian advertising market, organized by Grupo Meio & Mensagem. The company is based in Brazil, but also has offices in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela, making it one of the top production resources in Central and South America.
