In a series of tongue-in-cheek ads that take satire to new levels of absurdity, Cafe Rio delivers a scathing commentary on adland while still focusing on itself.

Whether or not Cafe Rio intended for Can This Year Get Any Better? to comment on all the other advertisements being made during the time of corona is something to leave to future reviewers. What we know is that Funworks took a concept and turned it into comedy gold, creating a series of ads that talk about the pandemic, food delivery, and stay-at-home school without being too morbid about it. 

Filmed in comedian Reagan Burn’s family home, the six-part ad series is a wicked takedown of what marketing in the time of coronavirus looks like. Produced in-house and edited by The Den, the series is full of fun, ironic moments that make the world outside seem like something we’ll all laugh at in a few years.
