CMN PPL FLMS signs director Denise Moreno
CMN PPL FLMS signs London based comedy director Denise Moreno for representation.
CMN PPL FLMS announce the signing of upcoming comedy director Denise Moreno.
Moreno is a Spanish-American writer and director based in London. Moreno started writing and performing comedy from a young age and at 16 she was doing comedy sketches and improv shows in dive bars around Madrid (the legal drinking age back then!).
After doing an M.A in Directing and Playwriting at Trinity College Dublin, she moved to London where she immersed herself in filmmaking. She has written and directed a number of award-winning short films, music videos, comedy TV pilots and commercial work.
In May 2020, Denise Moreno was selected by HBO in the top 25 emerging directors for the semi-final round of the 2020 HBOAccess Directing Fellowship. She is known for her playful style and quirky films, and for her ability to get strong performances from both actors and non-actors alike. One of her ambitions is to continue fighting for equality in the film industry, and she often works with a largely female led crew.
Emily Crofton-Atkins: “A brilliant comedy director that we couldn’t be happier to welcome to our roster. Strong characterisation and performances draw you immediately into her work, laughing as you go. Her calm energy and brilliant expertise on all things film is truly refreshing and we’re looking forward to lots of amusing collaborations.”
Denise Moreno: I’m so excited to join Common People! They feel like a creative family with a passion for bold, fun ideas. Can’t wait to start telling stories with them!”
