The new normal of 2020 is self-isolation, social distancing and total disruption to working life.

With offices closed, productions cancelled or indefinitely postponed and, as yet, no definitive timescale on when old normal might resume, shots has asked longtime contributor Chris Baker of Bullion to conduct a series of Skype interviews with industry peers.

These informal conversations cover the impact on both the individual and their thoughts on how the industry as a whole will be affected. First up is freelance copywriter Jonny Durgan, whose Sipsmith gin campaign, through Ogilvy London, picked up two Lions in Cannes last year.

They discuss Durgan's recent decision to go freelance and how the coronavirus crisis might impact on that, whether the industry's enforced 'hyper-sleep' could be a time to re-access how business is approached, and how creative thinking might adapt to this current new way of life.

Baker will be speaking to a series of people over the coming weeks, from different sectors of the business. Next up will be promo-directing legend Vaughan Arnell.
