It's always fun when films employ the nonsensical logic of dreams - visual non-sequiturs that sit together in a way that makes sense when it really shouldn't.

For their new campaign, online learning platform Coursera, working with creative agency CALLEN, has created a pair of spots in which such flights of fancy are wonderfully realised, bringing to life the inner voice and daydreams of each film's respective heroes.

In Moving On, a talking sandwich (aka an inner voice) encourages an everyday worker to “unfurl those mighty wings and fly". With Nerves, a woman's internal pep talk, involving trips through her past, takes place between the time her name is called for an interview and when she arrives at the office door.

Stylishly directed by Furlined's Torben Kjelstrup, utilising some brilliantly imaginative transitions and camera moves to emphasise the slick surreality of the storytelling, this fun campaign fits a lot into a short, entertaining burst.

“For this campaign, we wanted to give that voice in your head a new script,” noted Julianna Simon, CALLEN’s Head of Strategy.

“We chose to focus on the positive outcomes associated with learning, to change that story and emphasize Coursera’s limitless belief in your potential. These spots are about the power you still have to achieve and advance in your career.”
