DapperTV, the Los Angeles-based production company founded by Executive Producer David Lyons and incubated out of Believe Media, gains a new EP and partner in veteran producer Jessica Entner.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Entner came from a strong music background. Having been a Warner Chappell singer/songwriter, she eventually found her career calling in the world of original music composition in the early 2000s; most notably as business development at HUM Music & Sound, which led her to the role of Executive Producer for The Lodge, where she opened their West Coast operation, before becoming Head of Production at Massive Music.

Lyons and Entner established a mutual respect and desire to work together after a 10-year working relationship. DapperTV was the vehicle that would allow that to finally happen. They both share the wish to work with a more varied type of director, she says, “the thinkers who are a bit more outside-the-box, ones that bring more value to the campaign than solely being a commercial director.”

With an emphasis on developing directors from a range of backgrounds (including photographers, influencers, animators and editors), Entner hopes to bring a fresh eye and an enthusiastic approach to push the boundaries of content creation. “The way brands are being seen and heard has changed drastically over the past five years. Social media, in all its forms, is now an essential component to a successful campaign. Which means the talent to be focusing on should be on par with not just the realm of filmmaking, but also the world of branding and utilizing all the tools that these new avenues have to offer.”

Entner has set her sights on working with young directors who bring hunger and ingenuity to each job, “I understand working with the ‘heavies’ will always be intriguing to a lot of producers and creatives, but there are so many bright newcomers that have already proved themselves to be worthy of collaborating on huge campaigns. I’m hoping we can break the mold and help nurture rising talent who can bring a real voice to the market.”

One such talent is Julian Smith, Entner’s newest signing (along with directorial duo the Wade Brothers). Smith recently collaborated with David & Goliath on a KIA Rio spot, which Enter called “a full-blown meeting of the minds. D&G and KIA had so much faith in Julian and DapperTV to execute this, they allowed him to be the artist he is. Julian composed a music track using all the sounds he could find and record on the actual KIA Rio, which was then choreographed and performed in one take. The excitement and camaraderie on set was like nothing I’ve ever seen before!”

On working alongside Lyons, Entner says, “It’s been a dream. David’s ability to look at boards and immediately start figuring out how to execute is uncanny. Having been friends for years, our partnership and support of one another has balanced itself so organically. I’m hoping 2018 brings many more opportunities for us to introduce the industry to the wonderful new talent at DapperTV and countless more campaign collaborations.”

Julian Smith joins DapperTV roster alongside The Wade Brothers, Emil Kahr, Adam Cameron, John Ryan Johnson, Nick Jones, Shaun Sewter, Tim Dyroff, Ken Lambert, Filippo Rivetti, and Angie Bird.
