A new collaboration between Jeremy Turner and Tim Nielsen has resulted in the launch of Echo & Wave, a collective dedicated to original music and sound design for advertising.

With experience spanning global brands including Nike, Google, Apple and Beats, as well as Super Bowl campaigns, the pair are combining their respective expertise to deliver a more integrated approach to sound.

“We like to get involved early, sometimes even before the shoot,” said Turner. “We love participating in the creative vision so that music and sound are cohesive to that vision, rather than doing a mad dash of searching through libraries at the end, hoping to get lucky. We adopt a tailored and crafted range of ideas, to make each project the best it can possibly be.”

Both share the belief that real, human-made sound connects with audiences in ways digital shortcuts cannot. “Tim is quite literally one of the top sound designers in the world,” Turner added. “Beyond that, he is obsessed with sound. In this day of having everything at your fingertips, you can download sounds or pull things from a library - not Tim. He grabs a mic, walks out into the woods, and records what he needs to make things as authentic and real as can be.”

Nielsen said: “Jeremy is a composer who sits comfortably in any genre, from advertising to film and symphonic work. Our shared experiences have taught us both the desire to leave no stone unturned in our search for more emotional uses of sound and music, but also the need and ability to work fast and flexibly on a wide range of projects.

"We first met at the Sundance Labs, hosted at Skywalker, and it was immediately clear we had the same passion for exploring audio. Our goal is to offer that mutual expertise and passion to forge new creative relationships.”
