Far From Now imagines a hotel peculiar

Recreating Wes Anderson aesthetics with the absurdity of the situation and muted color scheme, young director, Gustav Bondeson, debuted Far From Now, a film of missed connections, and hidden desires.  

In this dreamy short film, a man is practicing his lines in a hotel room when he gets an unexpected call. One of his co-stars, quarantined in the same hotel as he is, with only a wall between them, has heard him practicing. She offers to read lines, but doesn’t, then offers a drink, cleverly sneaking around the edict to not leave her room by handing it to him across the balcony. 

Produced by Tarot Pictures, Far From Now is a soft exploration of acting, presentation, and stasis. It’s full of longing for many things, connection, comfort, change, and most of all, a reassurance that things will go back to normal. The actors are also excellent, and although they are limited in motion and movement within the space, their delivery is subtle and engaging to watch.
