Hungry Man signs director Bryan Fogel
Fogel is the Oscar-winning director of ICARUS, a documentary film about the whistleblower at the center of Russia’s state-sponsored Olympic doping program.
Production company Hungry Man have announced Academy Award winning director Bryan Fogel will be joining their directing roster.
Fogel is the Oscar-winning director of ICARUS and The Dissident. ICARUS, which exposed Russia’s state sponsored doping program and the whistleblower at the centre of it, won the 2018 Academy Award for Best Documentary and the 2017 Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Prize. Fogel was also awarded the Edward R. Murrow Award for Journalism, nominated for the BAFTA Award, three Emmys and the DGA Award for Best Direction. ICARUS contributed to Russia’s ban from the 2018 Winter Olympics and 2020’s Rodchenkov Anti-Doping Act.
Most recently, Bryan directed The Dissident, a documentary feature about the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in 2018. The film premiered at Sundance in 2020 and holds a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Dissident was also nominated for the BAFTA award, and Bryan won the 2021 WGA best documentary screenplay award. Fogel is currently in production on both scripted and documentary features and series.
