Award-winning production company Dress Code is excited to announce the official release of their short film 'I Heart NY'. The film was accepted into this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and has been picking up a lot of nods and awards along the way, most recently a Webby Award under “Documentary Short Form” and just received a Vimeo Staff Pick when sharing the film publicly on their channel.

'I Heart NY' takes as its subject design legend Milton Glaser (born June 26, 1929), creator of the iconic I Heart NY logo, founder of New York magazine and the first graphic designer to receive the National Medal of the Arts. The film chronicles the origin and ongoing meaning of the I Heart NY logo, from its creation during the 1970’s economic downturn when the city was near bankruptcy, to the present day where New York City is in a moment of both prosperity and growing political uncertainty.

The film was directed by Dress Code’s Andre Andreev. A first-generation immigrant and native of Bulgaria, Andreev’s portrait of Glaser and New York City is deeply personal. “I’ve always seen New York City as a place of refuge for those escaping war and persecution as well as a beacon of hope for those in search of a better life,” says Andreev. “Making this film was a very personal experience that allowed me to celebrate the diversity, inclusion, and hope that New York represents. It also gave me a unique opportunity to celebrate Milton Glaser, a living legend and one of my design idols.”

The film premiered as part of the Tribeca Film Festival’s shorts program at the Regal-11 cinema.
