His background in editing for Terrence Malick, Richard Linklater, and Beyoncé shaped his impressionistic approach to narrative storytelling.

López has had the privilege of working on commercial short-form projects with Apple, Google, Billboard, Condé Nast, and Spotify. His narrative work has premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival (Cannes Court Métrage), 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, and he won the Audience Jury prize at the 2019 SXSW.

López is also currently developing a TV series and a feature film slate. His life and travels across the US stirred an insatiable curiosity of the hidden stories behind everyone.

Daniel Navetta, owner and EP at BYT.NYC described Jonatán’s output as, “instantaneously compelling”. He added, “it’s truly remarkable to see how dynamic his vision is – it’s obvious that he’s leveraging his experience working alongside masters of cinema and still finding his own methods of expression. It all happens to land in the centre of the zeitgeist.”

Jonatán López joins a roster of other ascending talent at BYT.NYC as part of a lineup that includes dayday, Jordan Hall, Henry Busby, Emily Sheskin and Rhys Stover.
