Mat Humphrey Gets Passport to US
Aussie director signs with Passport Films and establishes alliance with his company, The Guild of Commercial Filmmakers.

Passport Films, the Santa-Monica based production company headed by Owners/Executive Producers Patti and David Coulter, have signed Director Mat Humphrey for US representation and formed an alliance with his Australian-based production company, The Guild of Commercial Filmmakers. As part of the agreement, The Guild will represent Passport's roster of directors in Australia.
The move reunites Humphrey with Michael Romersa, Executive Producer and Head of Feature Film Development at Passport, who represented Humphrey at his former shop, Reactor Films. Among their many collaborations was a Brinks Security spot produced for Doner in Detroit.
Humphrey’s work has won countless international awards over the last decade, including honors from The One Show, Cannes Lions, Clios, and a Gold for Best Direction at the London International Awards. His reel reflects a diverse body of work, says Patti Coulter, including humor, people/dialogue and intensely emotional drama, covering such categories as lifestyle, kids, animals and automotive.
“All of Mat’s work is driven by his passion for storytelling,” she adds. “Many of his award winning PSA’s on issues like drunk or reckless driving or smoking are intense, emotional real drama pieces.”
His reel includes spots for such brands as Oreo, Mitsubishi, Pedigree, HSBC, Purina, Panasonic, Beneful, Suzuki and McCain’s, as well as work for the storied safe driving campaign for Australia’s Transport Accident Commission.
