As the Cubs lead the National League Central Division and are pursuing their 4th post season appearance (which would be their first time in franchise history), the team, in collaboration with their Chicago-based creative AOR, Schafer Condon Carter (SCC) and Cubs Productions, launched a 30-second TV spot to celebrate its fandom with their new 2018 platform- “Everybody In.”
Featuring celebrity fan and native Chicagoan, actor Ike Barinholtz (notable work including Blockers, The Mindy Project and Neighbors), the comedic spot follows Ike as he ensures that everybody and everything in and around Wrigley Field is “In,” from the Harry Caray statue, the iconic ivy in the outfield, to the beloved Cubs mascot, Clark. The ad even features the first televised appearance of the infamous “troughs” in the men’s room.
The spot not only celebrates the incomparable experience of attending a Cubs game but breathes life into the “Everybody In” slogan, which exemplifies the Cubs’ mission of “putting the group ahead of the individual” and adds to the feeling of camaraderie, enthusiasm and energy that comes with being a member of the Cubs “family.”
The spot will appear on television, and is an accompaniment to downloadable wallpapers and social images that exist of the official MLB website for The Cubs, as well as the ongoing Twitter hashtag, #EverybodyIn. It is part of a broader year-long integrated effort to dimensionalize the way players, fans, corporate partners, and front office staff all demonstrate how they are IN.
The spot was directed by Leroy Koetz.
