Wieden + Kennedy, Deutsch Share 2012 TV Spot Emmy Nominations
 

Target's "Color Changes Everything," from W+K and Smuggler, was nominated for a TV commercial Emmy.

The 2012 Emmy Award nominations were announced on July 19 and work from Wieden + Kennedy and Deutsch shared the honors for TV commercials. Of the five nominated spots, three were created and produced by W+K and two by the L.A. office of Deutsch.
 
Among other notable names in the list of Emmy nominations included @radical.media, which was nominated for three Emmys in entertainment categories, and Zoic Studios, which received two visual effects nominations.
 
The spots nominated for Outstanding Commercial are two Volkswagen spots, both from Deutsch L.A.: "The Bark Side," directed by Keith Schofield of Caviar Films in L.A. and edited by Nicholas Wayman Harris of Union Editorial; and "The Dog Strikes Back," directed by Lance Acord of Park Pictures and edited by Jim Haygood of Union Editorial.
 
Also nominated was "Best Job," a corporate spot for Procter & Gamble created by Wieden + Kennedy, directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu of Anonymous Content and edited by Peter Wiedensmith of Joint.  
 
The agency's other nominations came for work for work for Target, "Color Changes Everything," directed by Filip Engstrom of Smuggler and edited by Jeff Buchanan of Final Cut, and "It's Halftime In America" for Chrysler, directed by David Gordon Green of Chelsea and edited by Tommy Harden of Joint.
 
Work from @radical.media earned three Emmy nominations. The company was nominated in the Outstanding Nonfiction Special category for "Paul Simon's Graceland Journey: Under African Skies," which ran on the A&E network and was produced by A&E Indie Films in association with Sony Music Entertainment's Legacy Recordings. It was produced for @radical by Jon Kamen, Justin Wilkes and Joe Berlinger.

VW's "The Dog Strikes Back," from Deutsch and Park Pictures, was one of two VW spots nominated.

The company was also nominated for two Emmys for the HBO documentary "Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory," which was honored in the Exceptional Merit In Documentary Filmmaking and in the Outstanding Directing For Nonfiction Programming categories. The film was directed by Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky.

Zoic Studios, the visual effects and production company, received two Emmy nominations, both in the category of Outstanding Special Visual Effects. The studio was nominated for two episodes of the TNT series "Falling Skies," produced by DreamWorks Television, and for an episode of ABC's "Once Upon a Time" titled "The Stranger," produced by ABC Studios.  Honored were Zoic's Executive Creative Director and Co-Founder Visual Effects Supervisor Andrew Orloff, who worked on both nominees, and VFX Supervisor Curt Miller, for Falling Skies.
 
Director Michael Cuesta, who's represented by The Artists Company, was nominated in the Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series category for his work on the pilot for "Homeland," for Showtime.
 
In the category of Outstanding Main Title Design, Prologue was nominated for Kyle Cooper's title design for the FX series "American Horror Story," and Imaginary Forces was nominated for Creative Directors Ahmet Ahmet and Michelle Dougherty's work on "Magic City" for the Starz entertainment channel. 
 
Also nominated for an Emmy was Cinematographer Florian Hoffmeister, who was cited in the category of Outstanding Cinematography For A Miniseries Or Movie for Masterpiece's "Great Expectations (Part 2)." The two-part PBS/BBC co-production debuted in the US in April and in May.  Hoffmeister is represented as a director in the US by Pictures in a Row, the L.A.-based production company.  Earlier this year he won a BAFTA Award for his work on the series, which has garnered four additional Emmy nominations.
 
The 2101 Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will air in the US on ABC on Sunday, September 23 at 7 PM EDT. The Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards presentation will take place on Saturday, September 15th.
