Young Gets His Union Card

Award-winning editor Lawrence Young has signed with bi-coastal Union Editorial. Projects for Nike, ESPN, TAG and ETrade are highlights in a career spanning two decades. Young won a Cannes Silver Lion (2006) and an AICE Award (2007) for his work on Arnold's "Truth" campaign. His recent work includes high profile projects for AMEX, Got Milk with Salma Hayek and a long form branded piece for Sour Patch. He comes over from NO6 Edit. Young is based in Union's New York office.
"I was looking for a strong anchor editor in New York a few years back," recalled Union Partner/Executive Producer Michael Raimondi. "Directors and clients kept talking about Lawrence. I had followed his career so he was on my list - but he was on all of theirs as well." It would take awhile for the stars to align, but when the two started talking this time, said Raimondi, "it came together very quickly. We knew this was the guy we wanted, so it clicked and we couldn't be happier." He added that Young brings an interesting new element to Union. "On the West Coast, we're known so much for strong visual work, for car work," Raimondi noted. "Lawrence brings that comedy imprint that's eluded us on some fronts."
Young's career began in his native London, amidst the bustling Soho scene of the 1990s. Self-taught on the Avid, he spent his nights cutting music videos for Guy Ritchie, then an up-and-comer. In 1995, Young relocated to Los Angeles, where he cut his teeth in production before moving to New York City - and into commercial editorial - as an Assistant Editor at Mad River Post. There, he met editor Tom Scherma, whom he joined at Cosmo Street in 2003. A promotion to editor followed, with Young's star rising over the next decade as he earned awards and accolades for his work at Cosmo, Bikini and NO6. Young's first assignments with Union are campaigns for Taco Bell via Deutsch LA and Truth via Arnold Boston.
Union Editorial has offices in Santa Monica, CA, New York City, and London, where it maintains an alliance with Marshall Street Editors.
