David Bartels is a Mad Men era art director from Chicago. While Bartels may not be a household name, the writers, artists, and directors he worked with definitely are. He was an understudy to Advertising Hall of Famer Joe Sedelmaier ("Where's the beef?!" Wendy's campaign), a creative partner to director John Hughes (Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller, etc), the brain behind Joe Camel, and almost the producer of a Broadway musical directed by Andy Warhol. Bartels shares lessons and impressions from his 50 years as an art director during the ad industry's most innovative era (and even dishes some unknown Andy Warhol, Billie Jean King and Joe Camel lore in the process).
