Goldfrapp: Happiness

Director Dougal Wilson explains the inspiration behind his new video for Goldfrapp's track Happiness: "The video is basically an 'homage' (ripoff) of a scene I love from a 1953musical called Small Town Girl, where this brilliant dancer, Bobby Van,bounces around a town cheering everybody up. There's a poster for the film on a telegraph pole in the video, but annoyingly you can't read it becauseof strobing! Our version is a bit less sunny than the original as we shot the video in one day in Camberwell. Unfortunately I've just been informed of another older pop video from 1987 that used exactly the same idea!"
