Nonfiction Spots, who represents documentary makers for commercial spots, has expanded its roster with documentary filmmakers Earle Sebastian and Marc Singer. Sebastian has gained acclaim for his music documentaries Stolen Moments: Red Hot + Cool and Inner City Blues: The Music of Marvin Gaye, as well as music videos for artists including Madonna and Missy Elliott. British-born Singer gained acclaim for Dark Days, a film shot over several years documenting the lives of homeless people living in the New York subway, which won several awards at Sundance in 2000, as well as the LA Film Critics Association and Independent Spirit Award. He has been filming underwater explorations in Florida for the past two years.
Michel Suissa has joined one-stop-shop Sideshow in New York as creative director. Suissa joins Sideshow after 11 years with The Tape House and its sister company Black Logic, where he was vice president/creative director. Most recently Suissa has been directing commercial projects through his own New York-based production company Parallax One. Suissa has in the past created campaigns for clients including AT&T, NASDAQ, New York Lottery, PBS, and ESPN2.
Meanwhile in LA, director Julia Jason, who has created spots for clients including Nivea, Nurofen and Bayer, has signed to Crossroads Films for US representation. This follows her joining the directors roster at Cowboy Films in London, Crossroads sister company, in the Spring for UK and European representation.
Also in LA, director Ericson Core has joined Plum Productions and Des Mullan has signed to BeachHouse Films for commercials representation. Core has proved his mettle as DOP on blockbuster movies including Daredevil, The Fast and the Furious, Payback and 187. His first directorial assignment through Plum Productions, a 5-spot campaign for Pontiac Grand Am and Grand Prix breaks in late September. Mullan is a former agency creative director, most recently with Saatchi & Saatchi Warsaw. He is currently shooting a Bulmers Cider project in Ireland through Rocket Productions, who represent him there, and is lined up to direct two spots for Masterfoods through Grey Worldwide.
