Lowe Worldwide has appointed Nancy Hill as CEO of its North American offices. Formerly managing director of BBDO, Hill worked on Visa US and Motorola. She will work alongside chief creative officer Mark Wnek in the New York office in an effort to turn around the fortunes of the network, whose new chairman Steve Gatfield recently announced the closure of 47 offices.
Cole & Weber United has taken on Todd Grant as executive creative director and partner. Grant, who was former creative director at Publicis of the West, will fill the position left vacant by Guy Seese in March. Grant spent two years at the New York office of ChiatDay where he worked on Reebok and New York Life, before moving to Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, where he and his creative partner created Louie & Frank, the Budweiser lizards. He has also produced for HP and was responsible for the worldwide Invent tagline. At ChiatDay in San Francisco Todd primarily worked on adidas and most recently at Publicis of the West was responsible for T-Mobile, HP and the Washington State Lottery.
Saville Productions has signed director Rupert Wainwright for US commercials representation. Wainwright, a music video, commercials, television and features director, shot horror flick Stigmata and more recently The Fog last year. A seasoned commercials director, he set up Fragile Films in 1988, before it was bought by Propaganda in the 1990s. He has shot for Reebok, Sprite, Honda, AT&T, McDonalds, Sprint, Gatorade, Converse, Pepsi, Office Depot, Deutsche Telecom and BP among others. He has already shot his first spot for Saville for Wal-Mart.
Gartner has signed directors Mike Bigelow and Theodore Melfi for exclusive US spot representation. Bigelow comes from Biscuit, while Melfi moves over from Uber Content (formerly Area 51). Both directors are known for comedy projects: Bigelow for Miller, Cartoon Net and Canadian Club; Melfi for DirecTV, Taco Bell and ESPN projects.
Wanted Films has taken on Beverley Fortnum for commercials representation. Fortnum was formerly a creative director at Leo Burnett London and has worked on campaigns for beauty brands including Clairol, Wella and the Aussie. Before Leo Burnett she was a creative director at Grey, heading up the beauty division. She has already shot her first spot for Arm & Hammer toothpaste, which airs later this month.
Red Bee Media has appointed Linda Summers to the new role of head of strategic development. She was formerly VP group strategy and performance management at O2.
Connecticut-based independent marketing agency VogtGoldstein has promoted copywriter Dave Laskarzewski to senior copywriter. Prior to joining VogtGoldstein in 2000, Laskarzewski was a copywriter with Moss/Dragoti in New York City working on the Hertz and CNN.com accounts.
Senior art director Simon Tuplin has been promoted to associate creative director at independent ad agency davidandgoliath. Tuplin joined the shop in 2005 from Lowe Roche in his native Toronto, where he spent his entire agency career working on brands including Coca-Cola, Ikea, Virgin Mobile and Mercedes-Benz. At dng he handles assignments for Kia Motors America, Travel Channel, LA Gear, Universal Orlando and other clients.
Filmworkers Club Dallas has added colorists Joe Malina and Oscar Oboza to its staff. Malina was formerly with Match Frame where he completed numerous assignments for GSD&M and other top agencies. Oboza previously worked at the Minneapolis post house Hi-Wire where he coloured spots for Subway and Lee Jeans.
Music and sound design company Ride has hired Tiffaney McCannon as sales director. She previously worked as an independent sales representative at R2 in New York where her roster included Tate USA, Pictures in a Row, Jump, Manic, Topix and Arf.
New York-based editorial FX and music boutique Ultrabland has hired executive producer Heidi Bayer. Bayer, formerly with Storm Media Studios/LA, has produced campaigns for clients including Universal, Paramount, FX Network and Fox Broadcasting.
Susan Armstrong has signed to design-based effects studio Headlight. Armstrong began her career as a Flame artist and designer at Toronto's Topix MadDog working with director Floria Sigismondi on David Bowie's Little Wonder music video as well as the award-winning Groove for Coca-Cola. She then moved to the US where her most recent post was as a creative director at Click3X New York, designing packages for series Queer as Folk and HUFF. Her commercial credits include spots for Verizon, Samsung, Canon, AOL and Haagen-Dazs.
89 Editorial has signed editors Keith Olwell and Chris Davis. Olwell comes to 89 from FilmCore Editorial where he worked on Microsoft, Converse, Sirius Radio and Citizens Bank for Arnold Worldwide. Freelancer Davis has cut music videos for a host of top artists including Missy Elliott, The Dave Matthews Band, Janet Jackson, Pink, Outkast and Creed, as well as commercials for iPod and Sony among others.
