When did you first pick up a camera?
Well Everynone is a team made up of three people; Will Hoffman, Daniel Mercadante and Julius Metoyer. We all started toying around with cameras at a pretty young age, probably around eight years old. We were all into observation and collecting things; so, collecting information with a camera seemed fitting.
What does winning at the YDA mean to you?
We make our projects quite minimally; it’s us three, a camera, and folks we meet along the way, so to think about tons of people seeing our work, let alone winning awards, is sort of surprising. It’s nice to see the work being well received.
What was the most challenging aspect of making your film?
For Words, the most challenging aspect was filming the feather falling. It took about three hours to get right. It was a tiny feather.
Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
Everyone.
What do you think is the future of advertising?
We’d hope for everything to be one-shot ads with no graphics or music, but we’ll probably get the opposite and they’ll be everywhere. It’d be nice to see more ads that embrace honesty and simplicity.
What commercial do you wish you had made and why?
We’ve never really had that thought. Wishing is for birthday candles.
Where do you hope to be this time next year?
Knee deep in our feature film. Finding ourselves comfortably lost somewhere.
If we weren’t directing we’d be…
Dealing.
