Nokia HK: Honey
1st Prize Non European Branded Short Films
Representation: exit.com.au
When did you first pick up a camera?
When I was a teenager I learnt to take photos on a cheap little Nikon Rangefinder.
What does winning at the YDA mean to you?
It’s a big honour to have had the Nokia film recognised like this.
What was the most challenging aspect of making your film?
The usual challenges on a film set of not having enough time in the day and chasing the light. It was a true adventure finding the right locations on the fly, climbing rooftops, making sure our driver Bobby was awake behind the wheel, and stomaching the 100-year-old egg at a dinner.
Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
Innovative ideas and great problem solving.
What do you think is the future of advertising?
The world will end in 2012!
What commercial do you wish you had made and why?
One commercial that has stayed with me is the spot for Gucci Flora by Chris Cunningham.
Where do you hope to be this time next year?
Filming Albatross.
If I wasn’t directing I’d be…
On the gravy train.
