If you were a red-blooded male director, newly signed to the books of a production company and were awaiting your first big commercials job to come in, the chances are you’d want it to involve sex-crazed naked women who want your semen. You’d never really expect it to happen though, would you? Or, would you?

For Miguel Campaña, the dream was recently realised when agency El Ruso de Rocky created a racy campaign for Liga football club Getafe to combat flagging attendances last season. But what actually went through his mind upon first reading the script?

“Let’s shoot this thing!” he says before admitting: “Obviously I did have some concerns regarding how porn the movie was going to be (never imagined to actually shoot one), but the concept behind the campaign is so strong and unique that we really felt it was a great opportunity to do something different.”

The film sees female Getafe fans turn into sex-starved horny zombies and aliens in the hope of recruiting more male fans to donate their sperm, and it will actually be screened at clinics around Madrid.

Campaña’s producer on the job, Assaf Eldar, was as excited as the director about the prospect of shooting a pornographic film: “This is something you MUST do at least once in your life!”

So the pair happily cracked on and after discussing it further with the creative team, it was decided that the film would be given a 70s-style visual mood. “It’s an actual porn movie – there was no point in making a fake one!” booms Campaña. “We needed something the fans could actually ‘use’, but you also get some other things going on too with a B-movie sci-fi plot.”

In its first week, the trailer reached over 250,000 hits on YouTube and the director says it’s only a preview of what’s to come: “The trailers for the movie and the actual film are being released this week, so I think it will still get people talking.”

They’re definitely confident the campaign will achieve its aim to get more heads through the turnstiles and bums on seats at the stadium on match days, and they even believe it’ll change people’s perception of the club.

“El Ruso de Rocky has been creating very good stuff for Getafe for the last couple of years,” says Campaña. “As a result, I think the public now sees this small club as fresh, young and edgy and something different from the old school teams like Real Madrid or Barcelona.”

“Getafe is a very young club in the Spanish premier and it still needs to create its own identity,” continues Eldar. “Notorious campaigns like this one have helped create a genuine new identity for the club.”

More teasers and the actual movie are expected to be released this week and Campaña says that they’ll also be opening it at a cinema in Madrid soon. There are even plans to send the film to porn festivals. “Whatever it takes to gain more future followers for the club,” adds the director, who seems to have enjoyed himself as much as he hopes the fans will.“It’s probably been one of the projects I’ve enjoyed most since I started directing. There aren’t many scripts like this around.”

And what a way to get the ball (and camera) rolling at his new production company. But does the director think everyone will warm to an x-rated campaign: “My guess is that more people will like it than those that don’t. I mean, come on... It’s porn, it’s zombies and it’s football!”
