ART SELLS in Cannes 2012
Higher Pitch returns to launch call for entries with a nomination system for its Cannes event showcase this June.
They say three is the magic number and launching the call for entries this week for its third instalment of ART SELLS, Higher Pitch’s next showcase is set to be a dazzling affair. The exhibition, which celebrates art in advertising by showcasing the personal projects of people working in the industry, is to hold an invitation-only event during the week of the Cannes International Festival of Creativity at the end of June, and once again the submission process has been turned on its head by the organisers.
Having hosted a successful low-key launch event in the south of France last year, founders and curators Mel Fong Brown, Absolute Post and Suzy Quill, Saatchi & Saatchi London, will crank up the vibe this June with an invitation-only soiree to showcase the latest submissions of art from people working in the industry. But this time, the organisation will only be accepting nominations from colleagues, friends and supporters of the artists with an aim to encourage more conversation and exposure for the art.
Open to everybody who works in the industry, ART SELLS is an important opportunity to show off your artistic side, free from the limitations of briefs and influence of clients. Demonstrating its worth back in September of 2011, the third instalment – having launched with an inaugural showcase in 2010 – is set to be a unique follow-up, and with Cannes week fast-approching, it’s time to get nominating.
You can submit a nomination for a piece of artwork (one piece per artist) made by someone you know who works in the industry up until 14 May 2012. It could be a colleague, friend or even your boss and there are no constraints in terms of the medium, so what are you waiting for?
Ten pieces of work (as opposed to 60 at the last ART SELLS at Village Underground, London) will be accepted into the Cannes edition and nominations will be judged by leaders in both art and advertising. You cannot submit your own artwork for this exhibition and the names of guest judges will be announced soon.
To nominate work for consideration send the following to ART SELLS:
- Your name and occupation
- The name of the artist you would like to nominate and their occupation
- Pictures with dimensions and a description of the art
Successful nominations MUST be ready to be exhibited and delivered to the organisers in London by Monday 11 June 2012, with the exhibition being held in Cannes on Wednesday 20 June.
