D&AD 2012 Yellow Pencil Winners
The 2012 D&AD Yellow Pencils were announced last night. Here's your chance to find out the details.
London’s BFI Imax theatre played host last night to the presentation of D&AD’s 50th set of Yellow Pencils.
In their 50th anniversary year the awards have been split into two parts; last night’s Yellow Pencil presentation and a further black tie celebration dinner and Black Pencil award night in September. There were a total of 66 Yellow Pencils awarded last night, to companies and individuals from the worlds of design, advertising and communication, and after a mammoth week of final judging (which some of the juries only completed an hour before the show), the awarded work was unsurprisingly strong.
BETC Euro RSCG Paris picked up four Pencils – 31-120 second TV Commercials, Direction, Editing and Special Effects – for their Canal+ spot The Bear while JWT Shanghai added to their Cannes Grand Prix from 2011 with three Pencils – Press, Poster and Art Direction – for their Samsonite press campaign Heaven and Hell. F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi in Brazil collected two Pencils – Cinematography and Direction – for their Addiction spot for Nike while BBH London grabbed a Pencil for their Barnardo’s spot, Life Story. Other notable winners were AMV BBDO for Doritos Dip Desperado, CHI for Talk Talk Homes Within Homes and RKCR/Y&R for BBC Wonderful World.
Tim Lindsay, CEO of D&AD said; “Across the board, D&AD has once again reflected the changing shape of our industry. The craft skills of making great pieces of graphic design, illustration, direct and TV and Cinema are as strong as ever. However, we’ve seen the tectonic shifts at play as juries in Typography, Writing for Design and Writing for Advertising commented that talent has moved out of these craft areas, attracted by emergent media in digital and mobile, where awards for these craft skills have had a strong year.”
