KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is offering the travel chance of a lifetime; a ticket to space. RAPP, together with DDB and Tribal DDB Amsterdam has launched KLM SPACE, a campaign that offers people the chance to win a real spaceflight aboard the SXC Lynx.

On 22 April a high altitude balloon will be launched from the Nevada Desert and will contain cameras and a GPS tracker that stream live data about the balloon’s progress. As the balloon approaches the outer atmosphere it will expand and eventually pop. Viewers can go online and predict where the balloon will burst by ‘claiming their place in space’ before it takes off. The closest prediction will win the ticket to space.

The site launches with an interactive film that guides the viewer through the challenge. Between 10 April and 22 April viewers can predict were the balloon will pop. Participants can increase their chance to win by inviting their friends to endorse them for a bigger place, but in return friends can join the challenge with a bigger place for themselves. This is the latest competition run by a brand to give people the chance to go to space after Axe recently offered a similar prize.
