Last night (Monday 25) was the 2013 British Arrows Craft Awards. Taking place at Planit on London's Embankment the night was a chance for the industry to celebrate the individual craftspeople behind some of the year's most notable campaigns as well as the agencies and production companies involved.

Presided over by the inimitable Adam Buxton, the night started with a surprise as MPC's creative head of colour grading, Jean-Clement Soret [above left], was awarded the Craft Fellowship Award in recognition of his amazing body of work. The surprise was that it was presented to him by Danny Boyle, whom he has worked with on a number of Boyle's feature films. The award came early in the night due to Boyle's schedule but was a welcome and rousing start to the night.

Big winners on the night included Southern Comfort's Beach through W+K New York and Biscuit Filmworks which won Best Crafted Commercial, a gold for Best Casting and a silver for Tim Godsall as Best Director.

The London office of Wieden+Kennedy and production company Blink were triumphant picking up awards for their Three Pony spot; golds in Best CGI and Best VFX (for Jake Mengers and Carsten Keller at MPC London) and a gold in Best Use of Recorded Music (for Jake Sedgwick at Wave Studios).

Best Achievement in Production went to Channel 4's Louise Oliver and Shananne Lane for their Street Race spot for the Channel 4 Grand National Coverage, and Sid Lee Paris and Stink Paris took home three awards for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Defy; golds for Best Live Action SFX and Best Production Design and a silver for Best VFX.

BBH London's head of film, Davud Karbassioun was this year's jury head and said of the winners; "Craft is as integral to producing beautiful, famous and high performing work, as the idea itself. The myriad of skills displayed in this year’s films continue to impress and inspire at the highest level."

And British Arrows chairman Robert Campbell, founder of and executive producer of Outsider Films London, stated; "We should be very proud of what we do. We do it very well. I have been privileged to sit and watch some beautifully crafted work.”
