shots Awards 2014: MassiveMusic's 90s Love-In
Shoulder pads or shell suits? Hair rock or Indie pop? Tim Preston thinks the 90s rule supreme.
Next Thursday (November 13) is the shots Awards and while the main ceremony will reveal who and what has picked up a coveted shots Award trophy, the after party will potentially reveal another big winner.
MassiveMusic is our music partner for the night and together we're pitting the 80s against the 90s. Which decade will triumph in this clash of musical behemoths? To start the battle, we've pitted MassiveMusic MD Paul Reynolds, an 80s aficionado [below right], against the company's producer, Tim Preston, a 90s devotee [below left], to see if we can define a winner.
Below, Preston reveals his favourite things from the decade that brought us Baywatch and Blur and if you click here, Reynolds gets under the skin of the decade of big hair and bigger shoulder pads.
What’s your most vivid memory of the 90s?
Snogging a poster of Baby Spice...
What was your favourite TV show from the 90s?
Baywatch, and it still is.
What was your favourite film from the 90s?
OK, lets face it, we all know 80’s films were better… Except for Hook…
Blur or Oasis?
Blur, Blur, Blur. Everyone just pretends to like Oasis.
If you could only ever listen to one 90s album, which would it be?
Grace by Jeff Buckley. A credible album, unlike this 80s trash Paul keeps sending me...
What’s the best music video from the 90s?
Anything by The Spice Girls.
Show us your favourite picture of you from the 90s.
What was your favourite toy from the 90s?
See question one...
What was your best/worst fashion faux pas from the 90s?
David Beckham horns hair and LA Gear shoes. Although against Paul’s answer, this is pretty tame…
What’s the best 90s dance floor-filler?
The Tamperer ft Maya - Feel It. ABSOLUTE STOMPER.
The 90s better than the 80s because…
Baby Spice.
