The last time UFC fighter Anderson Silva fought in the octagon he left in excruciating pain with a broken leg and this spot, created by Africa Brazil for Budweiser, recounts the final moments of the fateful event that left the athlete facing the toughest period of his career.
Directed by Pedro Becker and acclaimed Brazilian cartoonist Rafael Grampaand, with production via Fat Bastards, the campaign film sees the ring transform to the bottom of a deep well, to represent the climb ahead of Silva and the uphill road to recovery.
Centred on the tagline #BeSpider and championing the star back to success when he makes his return to the octagon in Las Vegas on 31 January to face Nick Diaz, the film features real flashbacks of Silva’s career.
"Budweiser believes and was always with Spider, says Diana Maranhao, Budweiser’s marketing manager. “That is why we understand this return as an epic moment that should be celebrated in grand style. When Anderson is in the Octagon, we know that everyone stops to watch and we want to involve Brazilians as special fans. That's why we had the idea to create the #BeSpider movement."
