Financial services company Western Union’s Chain of Betters competition coincidentally launched today on International Women's Day - to empower women around the world to do something different.
The campaign, created by mcgarrybowen, celebrates one of the company’s core beliefs of moving 'money for the better' and encourages women to pursue stereotypically male job roles.
Inspired by the women who defy these odds, Western Union is awarding six grants of $1,000 to support the women who could pioneer male-dominated industries, believing it will make their money go further.
South African Siba Gqirana (pictured) has been awarded one of these grants allowing her to continue training as the country’s first female commercial pilot.
Western Union surprised Girana by tranferring the money direct to her account and then, flew out her family to celebrate.
“[Siba’s story] is an inspiration to women who are also looking to fulfil their dreams in what can be challenging circumstances,” says mcgarrybowen’s group account director, Louise Lang. “Western Union was keen to support and highlight this and it was befitting to launch the film around International Women’s Day, which celebrates the achievements of women as well as raises awareness of the need for gender equality across the world."
