Don’t Panic have created a new short film for campaigning organisation One.org highlighting the plight of women across the world.
Titled Poverty is Sexist, the film has been directed by Chiara Grabmayr for StinkFilm. It shows women from across the world being told ‘no’, with the repeated word the only one used in the one minute advert. From a woman in China being ignored in a boardroom to an African girl looking on as her brothers get to go to school, it highlights the problems women face globally. It also features scenes that relate women’s experiences with forced child marriages, enforced gender roles, and sexual violence.
Although the video has a global focus, the campaign is particularly focussing on what a press release calls ‘the women hardest hit by gender inequality – those living in extreme poverty.’
