BBH and Partizan are back with more Irish stereotypes, shamrocks and leprechauns for their second spot in support of the KFC O'Sanders range. Before, it was '100% Irish....ish', and now it's back, 200% Irish.
As with their first ad, also directed by Giles Ripley, this one features 'Randy O'Brien', an American-Irish character known for talking about his Irish heritage while mispronouncing Irish names. Now he is back in time for St. Patrick's Day.
In the first ad, released last summer, the character was apologising for all of the crimes against Irishness committed by America, all while dressed in a ride-on leprechaun costume. In this second one, he is exploring ways to make the chicken even more irish, with suggestions including renaming it 'Ketucky Fried Chiochian', or serving it in an Aran jumper.
Is it offensive? Possibly? Is it fecking hilarious? Oh yes.
