10. Driverless Delivery Vans by 2018

So say Autocar, quoting The Academy of Robotics, whose Kar-Go has received £300,000+ of crowdfunding, to be matched by unnamed investors. Expect Amazon delivered by android and Redbubble delivered by robot in the very near future.

9. Comic Con Commences

Nerds of the world grabbed their bat'leths this week and headed to San Diego for Comic Con, the world's leading pop culture convention. If you missed the event (perhaps your He-Man unitard was in the wash?) Time has summed up all the major events and previews, including new trailers for Thor and Strange Things. Oh, and Halle Berry chugging whiskey...

8. Mean Girls: The Musical

As the teen comedy that seemed to launch (and arguably, destroy) Lindsay Lohan’s adult career, Mean Girls was a huge success following its release in 2004. Which is why, 13 years later, it’s being brought to Broadway in the autumn and Variety reveals who’s been cast. Erika Henningsen will take the lead role of Cady while Kinky Boots star Taylor Louderman has been appointed Queen Bitch, Regina, played in the film by Rachel McAdams.

7. No Seats on NY Subway

Travelling home on the Subway at rush hour, you’re unlikely to nab a seat. Packed in like sardines, it can be hot, sweaty and down-right disgusting on peak commutes. However, a pilot programme has been created for New York City, in which seats would be stripped out of trains across the L line and Manhattan Shuttle, according to Time Out. Though chairman of the Met’s Transport Authority, Joe Lhota, claims it will reduce overcrowding and increase capacity, we can’t help but think those seats might be necessary if you’re feeling a bit faint.

6. Jen Returns to TV with Reese Witherspoon

Thought you’d seen the last of Jennifer Anniston on TV (except for old Friends re-runs)? Well, HBO this week confirmed via The Hollywood Reporter that Jen, aka Rachel, is teaming up with fellow American actress Reese Witherspoon in a new series, which remains untitled. All we know is that it will focus on the New York media landscape, focussing on the role that morning TV shows play in waking up America. We can’t wait.

5. Trump Ticks Off Transgender Troops

Another week, another faux pas from the American President. This time concerning transgender people fighting in the US Army. Earlier this week Trump reversed history when he tweeted that President Obama's year-old-policy will no longer stand. Now the Pentagon is in disputes about how to move forward following Trump’s outburst. For now, at least, The New York Times has reported that transgender people can continue serving in the military.

4. UK Make Terrible Decision in a National Vote...

...which definitely hasn't happened any other times in the last year or so. This time the poll was for Britain's favourite artwork, with Banksy's Balloon Girl overtaking a selection of works by Jack Vettriano, Turner and Peter Blake to take the crown as per this article on the Independent

3. Beyoncé Fails to Dodge Copyright Case

Even Beyoncé can’t play the superstardom card when it comes to copyright laws. After she was accused of using a sample of murdered YouTube personality, Messy Mya’s, (Billboard) in February, the popstar has had a lawsuit filed against her for £20 million. The claim? That she used the clip without authorisation – something her team claims she accessed on fair grounds. The court is yet to decide the verdict but read the full report here.

2. R.I.P. Paint

After 32 years of pixelated painting service, Microsoft are to retire MS Paint for the Windows update, as reported by, among many others, The Verge. Cue a lot of publications writing 'R.I.P' on a Paint screen and screenshotting. I'm writing this on a Mac, so you'll have to make do with a work from the master of MS Paint, Jim'll Paint It.

1. 50 Years Freed

This week marked five decades since the amendment of the Sexual Offences Act, which effectively meant the decriminalisation of homosexuality. But why just think about the last five decades when PinkNews have 2,000 years of gay history to take us through?
