New Publicis Art Show Celebrates Immigrant Artists
New exhibition from London agency highlights the creativity brought to the UK by migrants.
Publicis UK has recently opened an art exhibition which highlights and celebrates the creative ingenuity of British immigrants.
Called There's a Good Immigrant, the show centres on the creativity and diverse perspectives that migrants bring to British culture and the creative industries and features artists who are migrants themselves, second-generation migrants, or whose work encourages reflections on migration.

Conceived by Publicis London's creative director, Jo Wallace, and developed in collaboration with curator, Erin Manns and arts communications consultant Helena Zedig, the show features an array of artistic media - from painting, photography, sculpture and collage, to spoken word and virtual reality animation.
A portion of proceeds from artwork sales will be donated to INIVA (Insititute of International Visual Arts), an evolving, radical visual arts organisation that collaborate with artists, curators, researchers and cultural producers to challenge conventional notions of diversity and difference.
"I don’t feel entirely Italian, Danish or British. But I do feel 100 per cent London."
Dave Buonaguidi
Artists showing work at the exhibition include Alison Jackson, whose KKK Selfie image shows a lookalike Donald Trump taking a selfie with members of the Ku Klux Klan, Sara Pope [Freestyle, pictured top of page], Dave Buonaguidi, Sara Shamavari, Inua Ellams and Aardman.

“I was born in Paddington, to an Italian father, and a Danish mother," says Buonaguidi. "Like hundreds of thousands of others from all over the world, they came to London in the early 60s, looking to build a better life. In the 60s and 70s, London had the most vibrant ad creative culture on earth, driven by the entrepreneurial buzz and energy that a new immigrant influx brings. I think a sense of belonging is very important, but weirdly, I don’t feel entirely Italian, Danish or British. But I do feel 100 per cent London. London is my city. It’s where I am from. It’s where I am. Right now. I am here.”
There's a Good Immigrant is on at Publicis UK’s office, 82 Baker St, until September 1 2017
Opening times are Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm
Viewings are strictly by appointment only. To make an appointment to view the exhibition, please contact Vincent Abel
