When an athlete is at the top of their game, what drives them to continue competing? A new campaign from Droga5 for Hennessy cognac looks to legendary African American cyclist Marshall Major Taylor, who persevered thanks to his own inner drive and wanting to outdo himself.
Continuing the brand's Never Stop Never Settle mantra, the beautifully-shot spot sees Taylor beat his competitors with ease, before cycling off the track, away from his spectators and into the forest... where it's just him pushing himself and testing his limits.
Major's story is an unusual tale so it's even more inspiring to recount the determination of an African American world champion taking part and succeeding in sports in the 1900s.
Helmed by Derek Cianfrance, the spot encourages Hennessy drinkers to find what makes them go above and beyond, and commit to it unapologetically.
