London production company Familia is expanding its roster with the signing of two new directors, ANIMALS [pictured left] and Will Innes Smith.

Splitting their time between London and Zurich and directing collectively, David Bertschinger Karg and Tobias Bonfanti have merged their individual styles to form duo ANIMALS. Bonfanti’s background in communications has influenced his style through his love for high impact, stunning visuals and emotive narratives, which meshes with Karg’s flair for energy, pace and a subtle sense of playfulness driven by his professional snowboarding career.

Innes Smith’s style, on the other hand, combines a considered visual approach with a love for contemporary culture. His work, which has been recognised by D&AD, The Royal Television Society, Promax and BDA, straddles a range of media including live-action, CGI and animation across youth culture, sport, food and fashion. He wrote and conceived 4 The Players Since 1995, the launch film for Sony PlayStation.

"These two signings make for a more diverse roster of talent," says EP Toby Walsham. "The work of directing duo ANIMALS has a dynamic edge which makes them particularly suited to commercials involving fast moving sports, [and] their snowboarding spot is a fitting example of their high impact visual storytelling. Will Smith, with his experience from his creative direction days at Sky Creative, has a particularly good footing for considered commercial storytelling. His award-winning spot for Sony PlayStation is both relatable and visually interesting. We look forward to presenting these talented directors to agencies and brands."
