Promo, Short Film & Best New Winners Announced at 2018 Kinsale Sharks
The winners in the Music Video, Short Film and Best New categories at the 2018 Shark Awards have been revealed.
The Kinsale Shark Awards and Festival, taking place from Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29 September in the Irish town of Kinsale, has announced the winning work in the Best Music Video, Best Short Film and Best New categories.
Music Videos
There were 30 golds handed out in the Music Video section, with Alt-J's Pleader, directed by Isaiah Seret through Biscuit Filmsworks, picking up five of those golds (Best Cinematography-International; Best Colour Grading-International; Best Direction-International; Best Post Production SFX-International and Best Production Design-International).

Irish entry, In My Darkest Moments, by Irish musician Daithi, won three golds (Best New Director-Irish; Best Music Video Under 10K and Best Cinematography-Irish) while James Blake's If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead picked up two golds (Best Directoin-Internatoinal; Best Music Video Under 10K-International).
Short Films
The short film category saw 13 golds handed out with Tom Speer's Boy Saint grabbing three gold Sharks for Best Short Film Under 10 Minutes-Irish, Best Conematogrpahy-Irish and Best Editing-Irish.
Director Harry Lighton won Best Short Film Under 15 Minutes-International, for Wren Boys, while Carol Freeman's animated film, The Bird and the Whale won golds in the Best Animated Short-Irish and Best Original Music-Irish categories.
Best New
This year's Best New category saw a host of disciplines celebrated and variety of young guns rewarded. There were seven golds handed out in this category were;
Best New Colour Grader: Jonny Thorpe at Glassworks UK
Best New DOP: Joseph Ingersoll
Best New Editor: Jake Armstrong at Marshall Street Editors
Best New Music Composer: Alexander Wolf David at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Germany and Denis Kilty at Brave New Musin in Ireland.
Best New Sound Designer: Denis Kilty at Brave New Musin in Ireland and Mark Hills at Factory UK.
