Caviar Adds Three Feature Directors
Caviar, the US and European production company, has signed three young feature directors who are new to the commercials scene: Rian Johnson, Paul McGuigan and Jody Hill.
Caviar Adds Three New Talents to Commercials Roster A trio of up and coming talents have signed commercials representation deals with Caviar, the production company with offices in L.A., Brussels and Amsterdam. The three are Rian Johnson, whose films include Brick and the upcoming The Brothers Bloom; Paul McGuigan, who most recent feature is Push; and Jody Hill, whose Observe and Report is set to open in April. Each will be available for commercial assignments this spring, once they've wrapped up their current feature projects. These are their first representation deals for spot work. Says Caviar Executive Producer Michael Sagol, “Caviar is growing, and this is the logical next tep for our brand. We’re elated to be working with these guys, and believe their sensibilities will translate nicely to spots.” Johnson made his feature debut with Brick, which won the 2005 Sundance Festival Special Jury Prize. A film noir mystery, it earned international acclaim for its modern twist on the classic film style, all produced on a budget of about a half million dollars. His next film, starring Adrien Brody, Rachel Weisz and Mark Ruffalo, will be released in May by Summit Entertainment. Glasgow native McGuigan is a multi-award winning feature film director and still photographer. His work includes Wicker Park (2004) starring Josh Hartnett; and Lucky Number Slevin (2006), starring Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Lucy Liu, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley. His latest film, Push, opened this month. He’s already collaborated with Caviar on a series of web shorts produced for Nissan. Hill’s first feature, a low-budget independent film titled The Foot Fist Way, premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, where it was championed by comic actor Will Ferrell and dirctor Adam McKay. The association led to Hill’s latest film, Observe and Report, a comedy about a security officer at a shopping mall, which he wrote and directed. It stars Seth Rogan and Ray Liotta. |
