Cole Grom promoted at Exile Edit
After promotion Cole Grom is now a full time editor on the Exile roster.
Los Angeles based editor Cole Grom has moved from her position as beloved and trusted cutting assistant, to full time editor alongside the rest of the talented roster of editors at EXILE Edit.
Grom spent her early days sharpening her skills editing live band performances for a local college TV station in Crystal Lake, IL. “Beyond finding those special moments within the dailies, it’s definitely getting to work with all the creative people who bring a project to life” she says, when asked about her favourite part of being an editor.
Over the past couple of years, Grom has worked closely alongside EXILE partner Shane Reid. She credits Reid as her mentor and biggest influence, stating “His trust in me has allowed me to grow creatively with space to try things out without any fear of getting it wrong. His talent goes beyond cutting, and watching him create lasting relationships in and out of the edit bay is truly special. I can’t thank Shane enough for all he’s shown me over the years.”
The respect is mutual as Reid says, “It takes many different qualities to become an editor, some cannot be learned, they’re inherent. Cole has everything it takes. Not only is she a skilled editor with urgency and a point of view, she’s also a lovely human being who clients trust and want to be around in and out of the edit bay. I’m very much looking forward to the magic she creates.”
Grom has collaborated with a wide variety of clients including Apple, Amazon, HP, and Miller Lite, and editing has afforded her many amazing experiences, like working on the set of a music video for Taylor Swift.
“Cole continues to inspire me with her commitment to the craft of editing. She’s a natural at making relationships. It’s really an exciting time in her career, and I’m looking forward to the growth ahead,” says CL Kumpata, Managing Director at EXILE.
