Godoy Signs to Direct for the U.S. Hispanic Market via The Cortez Bros.

Godoy signs with Cortez Brothers for U.S. Hispanic work.

The Cortez Brothers, a Los Angeles-based production company with offices in Latin America, has added Jeannette Godoy to its roster of directors for US Hispanic Market representation. She remains with Superlounge for general market work in the States.

Godoy started her career as a choreographer, bringing her dance moves to Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back" video - not to mention a slew of other commercial, television and feature film projects. She segued from choreography into working on set as a stylist for both commercials and features, then caught the directing bug while styling a Mazda commercial. Fluently bilingual, she was asked to step in and direct the Spanish-speaking talent. Fast-forward to 2011, when SHOOT named her as to its New Directors Showcase, based in part on her "A Boy and his Tire" spec spot for Bridgestone.

"We're very excited to welcome such an exciting new director to our family," says Cortez Brothers' Executive Producer Ed Rivero. "It's thrilling to add another woman director to our roster, but what we like even more is that she's so knowledgeable on set. Her learning curve was small because of her hands-on background as a stylist and choreographer, and we love that she's so at-home behind the camera."
