Directed by Will Hooper from Blink Productions, The Key To Life is a musician vs. musician fight against codependency and obsession.
As Declan goes about his day he’s shadowed by another version of himself - it’s not quite an exact match, and it looks like they just found someone who bears an uncanny resemblance to the singer and filmed them both following each other around. Those in the know might recognize Declan's double as Alex Lawther from Netflix's End of the Fucking World, which is hinted at laster in the promo! Declan and Not-Declan head to a fancy dress party together, try to deliver the same gift, and end up having a brawl on the ground.
The video is strange and weird and eerie. It’s isolationist terror driven up to eleven, a non-stop trip that is bizarre and upsetting. Declan’s emotions are hidden and muted, which feels uncharacteristic from such a young musician, making the film all the more haunting.
