Distracted by rather slippery EELS
In this single-shot promo, a camera stays fixed on Jon Hamm (yes, that Jon Hamm) as he unwinds with a glass of scotch and a sweet vinyl track while a dramatic heist operation happens behind his back.

Described by the band as “the feel-good hit of the feel-worst year,” we watch as “a typical EELS fan finds solace in EELS music.”
In Are We Alright, as said typical fan unwinds by listening to the diagetic track, all the other sounds around him are drowned out. Behind him, robbers enter through an open window and quickly start relieving the room of its belongings. Even as a visitor tries to stop the intruders, the commotion doesn’t make the track skip a beat, and the charade continues on as the fan continues to relax and enjoy the music.
Greg Barnes, of Black Dog Films, created and directed the spot remotely from London, while being shot in LA on 35mm. A longtime fan of EELS, having met the band at a concert during the Mad Men years, it was only a matter of time before Jon Hamm starred in a video for the pared-down lo-vibe rock band.
