The Quarry is pleased to announce the addition of Geri Docherty to its team of editors.
Docherty began her professional editing career after completing a film degree at university. She quickly developed an editing style that resonated with many artists in the Australian industry and has now turned her attention to the UK. "I feel incredibly honored to have joined The Quarry's roster alongside many talented individuals whom I've admired for years. There's a wealth of amazing work being created in the UK, and I'm excited to see what the industry has in store for me in the future."
Having recently moved from sunny Melbourne to occasionally-sunny London, Docherty's editing talents caught the attention of The Quarry, who were impressed by the quality of her work.
Bruce Townend, editor and managing partner, expressed his delight, stating, "Geri is the real deal, and I'm delighted to welcome her to The Quarry."
Before joining The Quarry, Docherty achieved success with notable commercial work for brands such as Nike, JD Sports, Mercedes Benz, and Champion, as well as music videos for Troye Sivan, G-Flip, and Mallrat. Her short-form work has also received critical acclaim, including the short films Haze and Patterns Of The Afternoon, and the documentaries PURRR and Eden Alone Surpasses Thee, which recently won the Best Short Film Documentary award at the Australian International Documentary Conference. Docherty's work has been featured at prestigious festivals such as the Melbourne International Film Festival, Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Melbourne's Women in Film Festival, and Mardi Gras Film Festival.
"Geri was 10,550 MILES away a few weeks ago when we spoke to her on the phone," says Ben Campbell, editor and partner. "We were like, 'You're amazing,' and she was like, 'You guys are pretty cool'... Next thing you know, she's here and she's already working. Docherty has an exceptional portfolio with great potential. We can't wait to see what she does next! Go Geri!"
By observing Docherty's work, viewers can sense her deep enjoyment of the craft. However, to her, it's much more than just a job. "I'm deeply passionate about editing. It's the one thing in my life that I've always been sure of, and I know I'll be doing it for the rest of my life. Being a part of The Quarry's team is a significant and exciting step for me. I can't wait to immerse myself in it. I have trust in the leadership and the producers, and in my short time here, I've already felt very much at home."
