Goodpenny Names John Cline Executive Producer

John Cline is the new EP at Goodpenny.

Goodpenny, the recently opened New York based editorial and visual effects company, has named John Cline as its Executive Producer.  He was most recently Head of Production for Curious Pictures, the New York-based animation and mixed-media production company.

Prior to joining Curious, Cline was an EP at JWT, Fallon New York and Nitro, now SapientNitro.  Goodpenny was launched by Bruce Ashley, formerly a principal at the New York post house Company X.

"This is the perfect confluence of editorial, music, VFX, and Flame," Cline says about Goodpenny.  "It's a truly cool boutique that's quickly building a strong reputation. I'm really excited to be here."

Cline got his start in the business as a P.A., freelancing for major New York-based live action production houses, and worked his way up the ranks since then.  He eventually was named Executive Producer at Optic Nerve, where he worked in both live action and visual effects on commercials and broadcast promos for clients such as Nike, Microsoft, HP, Reebok, ESPN, VH1, and MTV.

After leaving Optic Nerve he moved to the ad agency side, joining JWT as an EP on Merrill Lynch and Kellogg's.  From there he joined Fallon Worldwide's New York office, where he produced high profile work for Virgin Mobile and Starbucks.  When Fallon shuttered its New York office, Cline became Head of Production at Nitro USA, joining that global boutique as its eighth hire in the US and a key member of the management team that grew the office to 70 employees in less than two years.  While at Nitro Cline produced or executive produced campaigns for Dove Chocolates, Twix, Healthy Choice and Kraft.
