LA-based production company HOUND further bolsters its brand content arm with the addition of emergingdirector Ken Karpel

Karpel is known for his knack for combining energetic storytelling, cinematic visuals and realistic performances. His work is grounded in narrative brimming with humanity, heart, and humor.

The Australian creative, based in NY, has been obsessed with film since he was a child. After seeing Goodfellas at the tender age of seven he spent the summer writing and directing his own version - starring family and friends.  Karpel “shot” the whole thing with an imaginary camera that consisted of a rectangle cut out of a piece of paper.  In high school, he got his hands on the real thing and hasn’t stopped shooting since.

Directly from finishing film school in Australia, Ken was accepted into the prestigious University Of Austin, Texas Semester in LA Program; this led to him working on theshow Pushing Daisies, and writing/directing segments for the variety program Not Your Average Joe Show.

Returning to Australia, Karpel wrote/directedcommercials and television for Foxtel, Australia’s biggest TV studio. He’s since worked with Collider in Australia, Bakery Films in Germany, Target Pictures in Prague, and Esse House in the Ukraine. A global director in every sense, Ken has worked with clients including Adidas, Jeep, Netflix, Nestle, UniCredit Bank and E.ON.

Karpel is delighted to join the HOUND pack, saying, “There’s an incredible amount of talent both on the roster and behind the scenes. I’m looking forward to growing with Hound in the US. I’m also looking forward to continuing to prove my Grade 9 math teacher wrong. I told you watching the movie Pi would be more useful than learning about Pi.”

Karpel has just wrapped his first US project with GSD&M, for Hilton Hotels.
