HunkyDory have expanded their roster with the addition of UK-based writer-director Dan Castella.

Castella is a director who specialises in comedy. His short film To Wendy Who kicked Me When I Said I Love You was  commissioned by Film London and the BFI in 2017 and premiered at the London Film Festival later that year.

Castella’s short film Jamella won the Straight 8 Industry Shoot Out at Cannes in 2016. His short film Pitta Patter staring Olivia Poulet and Adeel Akhtar landed him a development deal with Catalyst Global Media and Channel X.

More recently, Castella has been sharpening his comedy knives in the world of commercials and branded content. His KFC spoof on clean eating was viewed over 15 million times in ten days. He also directed a series of short  films for TSB about comedians recounting their worst break-up experiences, which were recognised at the Campaign Magazine Media Awards.

Castella has directed campaigns for Google, Tesco and Ben & Jerry’s, and most recently Burger King, while his  charity spot for BeCO with TBWA was awarded Campaign’s Pick of the Week.

HunkyDory’s John Doris is thrilled with his latest signing “Dan is a really exciting comedy filmmaker, with an eye for exceptional casting, great comedy  timing and really engaging and funny performances.”
