Penguin Random House has teamed up with non-profit organisation PEN America, to create an unburnable copy of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.

PEN American works to defend and celebrate free expression in the United States and worldwide through the advancement of literature and human rights.

The novel has been among the most challenged publications in America, with the American Library Association noting that it has been targeted for “vulgarity and sexual overtones.”

With a video created by Rethink, and directed by Brooks Reynolds through Asymetric, featuring Atwood with a flamethrower, it serves as a powerful symbol against censorship and a reminder of the necessity of protecting vital stories.
