A trip to the shops might not sound like the most scintillating of cinematic experiences but, with Juan Cabral behind the lens and the subjects REALLY close up-front, the results are electric.
Ostensibly celebrating the Honda Civic’s low driving position, Wieden+Kennedy London's Feel More plunges the viewer into the action, wildly throwing in angles and camera positions we're not used to experiencing and making for an enjoyably disorientating viewing experience.
Ably handled by industry hero Cabral (he of Cadbury Gorilla and Sony Balls fame), the spot is masterfully crafted, with particular shoutouts needed for the tight edit - Whitehouse's Russell Icke - and intense sound design - 750mph's Sam Ashwell.
“When things are up close and personal - right before your eyes, at your fingertips, under your feet - that’s where it starts to get interesting," notes Joe De Souza, Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy. "Everything’s heightened. So we wanted to communicate the Honda Civic's low aerodynamic profile and advanced sportiness in a way that felt unexpected and visually interesting.
“Director Juan Cabral took this insight and helped create the film, shot 'in camera', that shows how the Civic turns an ordinary drive to the shops into a thrillingly exaggerated, joyful ride.”
